From New Zealand comes the highly regarded Perreaux Audio Audiant DP32 USB DAC Preamplifier. Here we have a lovely pre-owned example.
The Audiant DP32 is an audiophile-grade, low-noise, high-resolution, fully balanced analogue preamp with a mastering grade 32-bit/192kHz DAC on board, featuring asynchronous USB audio streaming.
At the heart of the DP32’s digital section is ESS Technology’s flagship 32-bit Sabre³² ES9018 reference DAC. The six digital inputs (one AES/EBU, one asynchronous USB, two coaxial and two optical) accept all digital audio interfaces.
The analogue preamp section has two buffered inputs and accommodates both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA cables, along with a selectable home theatre bypass. Just add power amp or active loudspeakers.

Capacitor free
The DP32’s fully-balanced analog audio circuit features a capacitor-free signal path, eliminating analog phase shift and retaining signal integrity throughout – ensuring accurate reproduction of source material.
Low jitter
Two stages of jitter reduction in the digital audio stream keep digital audio jitter to a minimum, ensuring accurate digital audio reproduction.
Isolated Digital Inputs
Electrically-isolated Digital Inputs provide zero ground loop interference and minimise power supply noise in source components from degrading the sound quality.
Touch panel interface
The DP32 features a unique, dimmable, front-panel, touch-sensitive controller, allowing the user to switch the unit in and out of standby or select the desired audio input source.
Full-function remote control
The DP32 is supplied with a full-function IR Remote Control. This allows the user to switch the unit in and out of standby or select the desired audio input source, adjust volume, display brightness or mute the audio output. It also provides eight direct source keys for one-touch selection of audio inputs.
Serial control
A rear-panel mounted serial (RS232) port provides the DP32 with integration into and remote control by home automation systems such as Crestron ™ and AMX ™.
Fixed or variable output
The DP32 can be configured to function as a DAC preamplifier in combination with a power amplifier such as the PERREAUX 100p or as a standalone DAC for connection to a separate Preamplifier , Integrated Amplifier or Headphone Amplifier.
